Lavender Wedding

The question of wedding budgets in Drôme or elsewhere in France is the main concern for soon-to-be married couples. How much should they budget? How can they avoid unnecessary or unexpected expenses? These are questions I hear regularly in my work as a wedding planner, and it’s an important topic to address right at the start of the planning process.

Nationally, the average wedding budget for 2024 for 100 guests is €13,500. However, this figure varies depending on your location (city or countryside, northern or southern France), the number of guests, your preferences, and the level of luxury you wish to provide for your wedding.

Let’s take a look at the costs involved in planning a wedding in our beautiful Drôme region…Here, I’ll provide you with all the rates charged by the essential vendors.

The main expenses for a wedding in the Drôme

The wedding venue:

wedding-venue-prices-dromeThis is the most variable cost, ranging from €2,000 to €25,000! Several factors come into play: venue capacity, accommodations, rental duration, luxury level, and services offered… But don’t worry—with over 70 event venues in Drôme, you’re sure to find the perfect one!

The caterer:

For a reception and a high-quality meal featuring local products, I recommend budgeting an average of €100 per person, plus the cost of beverages. Thus, the catering budget is estimated at €10,000 for 100 guests.

The wedding photographer:

A wedding photographer is essential for capturing every moment of your special day and preserving your emotions and those of your guests. Their rates range from €750 to €2,500, depending on the duration of their services and their level of expertise.

Musical entertainment:

A DJ will set the right tone for your evening; expect to budget between €900 and €2,000. In addition, for some unique entertainment during the reception, you can also hire a singer—with or without a band—for a budget ranging from €800 to €2,000.

The wedding dress and the groom's suit:

The secular ceremony officiant:

This is the most popular type of wedding ceremony, and we sometimes forget just how complex it is to organize! It’s best to hire a professional to help tell your story and celebrate your love through a carefully planned ceremony and rituals. Prices range from €750 to €1,500.

The wedding planner:

The key to stress-free wedding planning and/or flawless coordination on your big day! Prices range from €1,500 to €6,000 (or even more) depending on the services and level of luxury. Remote coaching or support is a good alternative for those on a tighter budget.

The home decor and florist sections:

But let’s not forget either:

The bride's makeup and hair, stationery, a videographer, any entertainment (for children and/or adults), car rental, wedding rings, etc.

So, what kind of wedding budget should you plan for?

wedding-budget-dromeCompared to the Paris region or the Mediterranean departments, the Drôme is a competitive location offering attractive rates. Furthermore, its prime geographical location makes it easily accessible to both French and foreign residents.

You’re sure to fall in love with its stunning landscapes, gentle sunshine, and the scent of lavender. Its magnificent wedding venues, with their Provençal charm, offer an enchanting setting to celebrate your union and share a truly memorable experience with your loved ones.

But let’s get back to the numbers: in 2025, for 100 guests, we can estimate a wedding budget of between €30,000 and €50,000. Sometimes even more—the region lends itself to every whim and extravagance!

How can you make the most of your wedding budget in the Drôme?

Keeping records and …

In my work as a wedding planner, for every couple I work with, I create a detailed budget breakdown (taking your actual financial capacity into account), and I recommend that you do the same! This helps you stay focused when searching for venues or vendors and keeps you grounded about the options available to you.

You can then update the budget as expenses are incurred to get a complete and accurate picture.

Stay strong in the face of temptation!

Pinterest searches, social media feeds, media coverage… there will be plenty of options… However, by reminding yourself who you are and refocusing on the values and emotions you want to convey on your wedding day, you’ll make the right choices.

The best wedding isn't the most expensive one—it's yours!
