Full-Service Planning or Day-of Coordination: Which Option Is Right for Your Wedding?

Planning a wedding isn't just about checking things off a list.

There’s the excitement of the initial planning. The hours spent imagining the perfect ceremony. The joy of finding the venue and vendors that reflect who you are.

And then there's everything we don't see.

The hundreds of decisions that need to be made. The deadlines that must be met. The unexpected issues that always pop up when you least expect them. The dozens of people to coordinate with. The details that, taken individually, seem insignificant… but which, taken together, make all the difference between a smooth day and a day you just have to endure.

When couples planning to get married contact me, there’s one question that comes up almost every time:

"We're torn between full wedding planning and wedding day coordination. What's the difference?"

My answer sometimes surprises people.

Because, contrary to what many people think, D-Day coordination isn't right for every wedding.

And sometimes I even turn it down.

Not because I want to sell a more extensive service, but because I refuse to promise peace of mind that I couldn't guarantee.

Comprehensive Wedding Planning: Much More Than Just a Time-Saver

People often reduce the entire process to a matter of convenience.

In reality, it’s a true strategic partnership.

From the very start of the planning process, I become the guiding force behind your project. Every decision is considered within the bigger picture: the choice of venue influences the flow of the day, the choice of vendors impacts the guests’ experience, the budget guides our priorities, and every detail naturally falls into place within the overall vision.

It's not my job to make decisions for you.

Our goal is to help you gain clarity, avoid costly mistakes, connect you with trusted partners, and turn months of planning into a stress-free experience.

It is this consistency that then makes D-Day seem… simple.

But in reality, nothing was left to chance.

D-Day coordination: a demanding service, not a "light" package

That's probably the most common misconception I come across.

Many people think that coordinating a wedding simply means being there on the day of the wedding.

In fact, several weeks before the event, I take full charge of the project: I analyze your organization, contact each vendor, verify the information, draw up a detailed timeline, and anticipate any potential issues.

On D-Day, I'll be the point of contact for everyone involved.

While you enjoy time with your loved ones, I’ll be discreetly making sure that every moment flows seamlessly into the next.

This service works remarkably well… on one essential condition: that the marriage is already on a solid foundation.

Why I Sometimes Decline Certain On-the-Day Coordination Assignments

Every year, I receive requests from couples who think they only need a wedding coordinator.

When we talk, I sometimes discover that there are still several vendors to find, that no schedule has been set, that certain key decisions haven't been made, or that the logistics are still very unclear.

In these situations, agreeing to coordination would be the easy way out.

But that wouldn't be fair.

No wedding planner can make up for months of preparation in just a few weeks. I could do my best, of course. But I wouldn’t be able to offer you the level of foresight, smooth execution, and peace of mind that sets my service apart.

So I’d rather have a conversation—even if it’s uncomfortable at times—and tell you: “ Your wedding deserves more than just coordination.”

Because my commitment begins long before the big day.

It involves giving you honest advice, even when that means recommending a different plan.

I am convinced that successful coaching does not begin with a quote.

He begins with a sound recommendation.

So, which plan is right for you?

A full-service wedding planning package is ideal if you want to fully enjoy the planning process without having to shoulder the mental burden of hundreds of decisions on your own. It’s also perfect for couples who dream of an elegant, seamless, and perfectly orchestrated wedding—without having to take on the role of project managers themselves for over a year.

As for coordinating the big day, this is the perfect solution when everything is already in place: the vendors have been booked, the planning is well underway, and you simply want to hand the reins over to a professional for the duration of your wedding.

In either case, there is no “best” approach.

There's simply the one that's truly right for your project.

And that is exactly what we take the time to define together during our first conversation.
